Amazing Features of your Notes App

By iPad Pete 7 Comments

There is a big chance that you are already using your Notes app as your go-to app for a lot of quick and important daily notes. It can be anything from notes during meetings or even in jotting down your grocery list. And Apple knows about this. That is why they keep on upgrading its functionality to give you more flexibility with the app. And the Notes app does come with cool new features.

At this point, you might already know that your Notes app can give you formatting options and even allow you to insert photos. You can even make sketches inside each individual note. But the productivity in the app just went up to a whole new level.

Using tags inside your notes

Prior to this update, the organization capability of your Notes was left to putting specific notes in specific folders. This made it a lot easier to group and bundle notes according to what is inside them. It was great and helped you compartmentalize all your notes. But you can now put Tags in your notes to find them faster.

If you are using social media apps like Twitter or even Instagram, you will know what these tags are. They are keywords with the hashtag (#) symbol in front of them. Remember that you can only use one word when making a hashtag. But you can put in underscores and dashes to help you combine words. With this update, you can easily tag any notes and find them a lot faster later on.

The usefulness of your tags begins when you know where to look for them. And Apple put them just below your Notes which are stored in your iCloud account in the Folders page. These tags section will show you all the tags you have used so you can find them easily. The challenge now is remembering to add tags to your notes.

Activity with shared notes

If you have been using Notes for quite some time, you know that you have the ability to share notes with other people. It is much like being able to read and edit the same document with a group of people like co-workers or even your family. Sounds cool, right? But it has been improved now.

Now, you can actually view updates on your shared notes. It can let you know of changes on the Notes since you last opened it and even the date and names of collaborators who made the changes. No more second-guessing who changes items in your notes. Now you can find out and exactly how your notes change with each input from people you have shared it with.

On top of this, you can even leave messages inside your notes for specific people. By simply adding the “at” symbol (@) followed by the name of the person, you want to leave a message to, they will get a notification about it. This is update is pretty significant especially if you are used to sharing notes with a lot of people.

The update on the Notes app may not be as much as other Apple apps but the beauty of it is not with the quantity but the quality of the updates. These updates just made your Notes app a lot more powerful and it’s making you a lot more productive.

Is “notes” a safe place to store passwords? It is password protected so I thought it would be a safe place.

    Please let me know.
    Thank you!

i find Notes to be not the least bit intuitive or helpful. I don’t get why it is pushed so frequently as some great app. I really don’t like it and have given up trying to use it. Sorry! Otherwise, love your various tips!
