The iPhone 13 has been out for a while now and a lot of people are already loving the tech upgrades in it. No longer do you need to hug the wall for power since it gives you more battery life than previous models. The cameras are excellent with low-light features giving you clear photos. And the iPhone 13 Pro Max can come with up to 1TB storage!
With all these, there are simply not enough reasons to switch up to the iPhone 13. And if you already have, the next question in your mind right now is, how do I transfer all my data from the old one to the new one, right?
You could be thinking about how you will copy all the contacts you have in your old iPhone. Not to mention all the photos and videos you have of your family. Do you have to set up all your accounts again on the new iPhone?
Easy way to transfer
You could be scratching your head trying to figure out how you can transfer the contents from one phone to another. Here is one of the most straightforward approaches you can take. But before that, here are a few things you need to make sure of:
- Make sure your iPhone is running on at least iOS 12.4.
- Have both iPhones plugged in and charging
- Steady WiFi connection
- Ample time on your hands (the transfer time really depends on how much data you have)
Once you have all those checked, here is a step-by-step process. The reason why this is a straightforward process is that during the setup process for your new iPhone 13, you will automatically be asked if you want to transfer data from your old to your new phone. This makes this device-to-device migration the most convenient way to start using your new iPhone 13.
1.) Plugin both phones and put them near each other.

2.) The Quick Start screen will appear and give the option of using your iCloud account to set up your new iPhone. Choose that and make sure it is the same iCloud account in your old iPhone.

3.) The tricky part – pick up and hold the old iPhone and make sure that the camera is able to see the animation on your new iPhone 13’s screen.

4.) Once you do this, wait for a message saying “Finish on New iPhone.”

5.) You will be asked for your passcode at this point. You just have to tap it in, and confirm.
6.) Follow the instructions on how to set up Face ID in your new iPhone 13.
7.) Tap on the “Transfer from iPhone” to begin the process.
8.) Keep the two iPhones (old and new) plugged into a power source until the transfer is done.
That is all there is to it! But what if your Wifi connection is too slow or you don’t have one? There is a way to do all the steps above but with a cable connection. You would need lightning to USB 3 camera adaptor plus another wire – lightning-to-USB cable. The camera adaptor goes into your new iPhone 13 and the USB cable goes into your old iPhone. Once that’s done, you simply follow the steps outlined above and you’re good to go.
Here is a bonus!
What if you are an Android user and you switched to Apple and bought an iPhone 13? You wouldn’t be able to use the steps above since that only applies to data transfer from one iPhone to another. But don’t lose hope! You see, though there aren’t too many Apple apps in your Google Play Store, there is one you can use for this specific purpose.
The “Move to iOS” app is the one you need where it will help you transfer most of your important data from your Android phone over to your new iPhone 13.

Great job. UDaMan
I recently got a new iPhone 12. Every thing transferred from my old iPhone except the passwords in Evernote. Any suggestions?
Here is an idea that I did. Copy and Paste those passwords to an email to yourself. When you receive that email Copy and Paste from email to Evernote.
I thought if you use iCloud it would automatically migrate to the new phone. Is this correct?
Pete, I am thinking about getting a 12 and I now have an 8.
Will all of these same instructions apply and do all of the apps move over too.
Thanks
Allen,
I would back your 8 up to the Cloud. Then download it to the 12.
I am getting an iPhone 11 for my granddaughter. Can I do the same for her iPhone
