Top 5 iPhone Exercise Apps for Over 60

By iPad Pete Leave a Comment

When you’re over 60, staying fit is an integral part of staying young. Staying active as you age helps with circulation and keeps your joints flexible.

But, while there are hundreds of exercise apps available, most aren’t suited to people our age.

There are so many to choose from that it is hard to know which ones are best to download. Before you go downloading all kinds of apps…

Here are my five favorite Exercise Apps for us “60 Plusers”…

1. MapMyWalk

If you’re the type of person who is looking to spice up your daily walk, MapMyWalk is absolutely for you. Not only will it allow you to see exactly which routes you often take to find new ones, but you can also set personalized goals in terms of speed, duration, steps, distance and more.

2. Seven Minute Workout

Another great option is 7 Minute Workout – which delivers on the promise that is right there in the name. This app offers workouts that are equipment-free, allowing you to build a unique program based on whatever your goals happen to be. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, get fit or improve strength doesn’t matter – there are more than a few exercises in here that can help you accomplish all of this and more.

3. Charity Miles

Charity Miles is another great app for people who like to get out there on nice, long walks in particular. Not only does it allow you to keep track of your progress in a way that makes continual improvement a breeze, but it also lets you turn those miles you’re walking into financial donations for dozens of charities all over the world!

4. Sworkit

Sworkit bills itself as an app that offers “fitness made simple,” and all it takes is one look at the feature set to see how true that is. It’s a personal trainer app that is designed for beginners, and it’s also great for people who may have been taking it easy during the cold winter months. It offers personalized goal plans like weight loss, improved flexibility, increased endurance and more – all of which can be managed right from your iPhone.

5. Silver Sneakers GO

SilverSneakers GO is the fitness companion app that makes it easy for you to get fit, stay active, and develop healthy exercise habits.

This app allows you to locate nearby group exercise classes and fitness locations. You can schedule activities whether you’re going to the gym, a class, or just general activity (walking, swimming, hiking, etc.) and you’ll get reminder notifications about your scheduled activities and never miss a beat.

The programs are guided workouts that range from 4 – 12 weeks and for all fitness levels. The programs will keep your workouts interesting and effective as you progress and get stronger.
