The best calendar app for your iPhone will depend greatly on your needs and personal preferences.
Do you need to manage a family calendar, or a collaborative one with your coworkers?
Are you looking for the best free option?
Do you like a sleek, minimalist look and feel, or an app that is jam packed with features?
Here are some useful alternatives to your iPhone’s built-in calendar app that you can check out based on YOUR personal needs and preferences...
Google Calendar – Best Free Option

One of the things that make Google Calendar so great is that you can create many calendars, all using a single Google account.
Then, you can port those calendars to just about any other online calendar service you happen to be using.
Not only can you use it with other calendar apps, but you can also link it to any business apps or services that you might be using for your work.
Not only that, but the app itself is free – so you can download and start using it right away!

Fantastical – Best Clean Interface

Fantastical is a great iPhone calendar app that brings with it a clean, simple presentation of all of your important events.
You can create those events through the menu, or if you prefer you can speak a quick audio note that the app will then turn into an event. The app is great at translating what you say into the right calendar fields. Say “lunch with Gene and Lori at Farmingdale Dinner”, and the app parses what you say into the right fields and pulls in the correct data like addresses and team member’s availability.
The app has a clean design that’s easy to use without giving up control of your event details. I also like that it also has an Apple Watch companion.

Woven – Best for Analyzing How You Spent Your Time

While Woven seems like any other calendar app on the surface, the left sidebar is a lot more useful than with other apps.
Click on an event, and you’ll see all details there without having to switch away from the page. Other apps use a Pop Up which makes quickly browsing your appointments more cumbersome.
This easy-access sidebar has a nice Analytics tab that breaks down all your events and shows you where you spend your time. It’ll show you how much time you’re spending on work, in meetings, who you spend the most time in meetings, and how many hours you spend on video calls.
So, if you’re looking to improve your productivity and see where all your time is going, Woven is the Calendar App for you.

Calendar.com – A great option for people to make a appointments with you.

The aptly named Calendar.com app not only has basic Calendar functions but it’s also an excellent tool for managing your appointments and schedule.
You can get your own profile on Calendar.com where you can send others your link to schedule an appointment with you.
Calendar.com is unique because it’s not only an online appointment scheduler, but it has the handy Calendar app to go with it. You can even sync it up with other apps like Google, Apple, and Outlook calendars. Or get notified in Slack whenever someone makes an appointment with you.
Although designed for work, Calendar.com would be an excellent option for keeping a Family Calendar.

Calendars 5 – Honorable Mention

Calendars 5 is a great way to display everything you need to know about your schedule visually. So, although it’s not the best at any one thing, it deserves an Honorable Mention.
It supports monthly views all the way down to daily views, and it too supports entering new events using little more than your voice.
It syncs with not only the built-in iPhone calendar app but also the Reminders app too.
Also, Unlike other Calendar Apps with a monthly fee, Calendar 5 is a one-time app purchase. So buy it once in the app store, then you can keep working with it forever.

Thanks Pete this was very helpful. Question besides having to pay for Calendar 5 and Google Calendar being free, are the other three free as well or is there a cost for them also? Thanks again, Pete. I really enjoy reading your newsletters.
Thank you Pete. But you didn’t mention the Apple calendar. I could really use some help on this one. I get duplicated entries almost daily. And they have so many. I just want one with everything on that one. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much for all that you do!
