By iPad Pete 2 Comments

The Memories option inside your Photos app just got a cool update called Memory Mix!

Do you know that part of the reason why Apple keeps increasing the storage space inside your iPhone is because of all the photos people take? Add the fact that the camera just keeps getting better. Add in all the filters and options inside your camera and you have hundreds of snapshots inside your iPhone.

So what do you do with them? Well, Apple just released the Memory Mix update and it will put a smile across your face!

Memories option inside Photos App

Before we dive in and talk about Memory Mix, let’s take a look back at the Memories option nestled inside your Photos App. A lot of people might not even know about it. This is because after taking a few photos, you simply choose and upload it to your social networking site of choice or send it to other people and close the app. Not knowing that there is a creative way of stitching your photos.

The Memory option inside your Photos app debuted in 2016 when Apple launched iOS 10. A lot of people believe it is the company’s take at directly competing with some popular apps at that time. Some of which are “On This Day” feature of Facebook and even Timehop.

The way it works is by using the combination of AI detection as well as facial recognition all done on-device only. This is is important to note since everything happens inside your device, no data is sent to Apple servers for your privacy and security. The feature automatically puts significant photos and video clips together which you can edit as a video.

Memory Mixes: What’s New?

iOS 15 now brings a refreshed take on your Memories option.

It now offers a selection of music and even specific looks you can add to your Memories.

Now, your collection of significant videos and photos can be arranged by your iPhone into fun and shareable content.

Here is how you can find Memory Mixes and how to share them.

Step 1: Find and tap on your Photos app

Step 2: At the bottom of your screen, tap on the For You section

Step 3: You can choose and swipe the Memories section and when you find the one you want, tap on the Memory Mix

Step 4: Once you have chosen the Memory Mix, tap on the screen again to reveal the options. Tap on 3 dots at the upper right corner

Step 5: This gives you plenty of options to customize your Memory.

Step 6: Once you’re done customizing, tap the share button to send with your friends and family.

Some people believe that Apple is only updating the Photos app so iPhone users would have a use for old photos and videos. This would make them less likely to switch to another phone brand. But with the exciting updates on a lot of the tech behind your iPhone like camera and storage space, updating the Photos app was a logical thing to do.

Plus, you may have been an iPhone user for a long time now and you’ve collected so many photos and videos already. The Memory feature is one great way to reminisce special moments in your life.

Thanks Pete. Can’t wait to try it. Can we add text to a photo first? Like “Pete’s birthday”?

I’d like to do this, but only share with myself. So a few photos in a mix per day that I can set up ahead of time. Possible.?
