Save Time and Keystrokes with Safari AutoFill

By iPad Pete 5 Comments

One of the reasons we can’t live without our iPhones is that we no longer remember anyone’s phone number.

Do you even know where your address book is anymore? I think mine is in the back of the junk drawer somewhere.

But what else can your iPhone remember for you? A lot as it turns out.

The AutoFill feature in the Safari browser can save you time and effort by keeping track of some of your most often entered information: contact and credit card info.

The feature is intuitive, and you may have already noticed it offering AutoFill suggestions for data you enter repeatedly but you can refine and improve the information through Settings.

Step 1. Open Settings.

Step 2. Select Safari.

Step 3. In Safari settings, scroll to AutoFill and select.

Step 4. Toggle “Use Contact Info” to on (green) if it is not already.

Step 5. Tap on “My Info.” When your contact list appears scroll down and select your name. You will automatically be taken back to the previous menu after selecting.
Note: Make sure you are up to date by checking your information in your Contacts list outside of Safari settings.

Step 6. If you want AutoFill to populate your credit card info too, toggle “Credit Cards” to on.

Step 7. To add a credit card in Safari AutoFill settings, select “Saved Credit Cards.”

Step 8. Select “Add Credit Card” from the next menu.

If you have cards already entered that you want to remove, tap “Edit” in the top right corner and select the card(s) you want then tap “Delete” in the top right corner.

Step 9. Enter the card information and select “Done” from the top right corner to save the card.

When you go to any site that requires your contact or credit card information you will be prompted to use AutoFill.

Now when you are shopping online you won’t have to get up to grab your credit card. Although that may not be such a good thing for our wallets!

How do you edit your address on Auto Fill? I can’t find a way to do that. There is an edit option on the Credit Card section but not when you select your name.

Also before my last update my email address uses to automatically show up when I need to fill in my email address. Now all I see is “Hide Your Email”?

    Kindest Regards,
    Shannon
