One day after the release of iOS 14.5 beta 6, Apple rolled out a brand new update for its mobile operating system focusing on fixing the iPhone battery issues.
Through its latest version of the popular smartphone platform, Apple introduces the Battery Health Recalibration feature to improve the battery performance of the latest iPhone series devices – something that users have been anticipating for quite some time.
Understanding the Recalibration of Your iPhone Battery
The new feature works by essentially allowing the battery health reporting system to recalibrate the maximum battery capacity on your iPhone for peak performance.
This isn’t really a change to how the battery itself works, but instead, it fixes how battery health is corrected.
In the past, many people were experiencing inaccurate estimates of battery health – which became especially problematic as their devices aged.
Now, so long as you own an iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max, this issue will be corrected, and you’ll have a complete picture of your battery health at any given moment.
Once your battery begins the recalibration process, you’ll see a message appear on the screen letting you know what is going on.
You can navigate to the “Settings” app, then select the “Battery Option,” and then choose “Battery Health” to see more information about the process.
Note that the displayed maximum capacity percentage of your battery will not change after this recalibration process is completed.
Instead, they are simply being updated to be more accurate than they would have been in the past.
During the recalibration process, your iPhone may become aware of the fact that the battery health has significantly degraded in the time that you’ve owned it.
At that time, you’ll get a message letting you know that it would be a good idea to head to an Apple Store to either get your battery serviced or to have it replaced altogether.
