Multitasking While On A Call

By iPad Pete 12 Comments

Have you ever experienced being in a call but needing to access another app on your iPhone?

In the past, you would have to close the call just to access another app on your iPhone.

If you were in a call and needed another number on your phone, you would need to end the call before you can open your contacts. If the call was about an email you received and you needed to check the actual email, you need to close the call first before heading to your mail.

But that is now a thing of the past.

Use another app while on a call

Switching to another app while on a call is now possible, and the process is pretty straightforward. Here is a step by step guide:

1. Make a call on your phone

2. Once you’re there, you can simply press the home button (if you are using iPhone 8 and earlier) or swipe up (for iPhone X and later). Just be careful not to press the “End Call” when swiping up.

3. Select the app you need to use (like your Mail) and you will still be connected to the call even if you are using other apps.

4. Once you’re done accessing other apps and want to return to the phone call screen, all you have to do is tap the green area at the top of your screen.

Sounds pretty easy, right? What’s even better is that if you are on a FaceTime call, you have the option of a picture in picture call. This way, you can still see the other person you are talking to even while you access other apps.

Stay tuned for more tips that will help you make the most out of your iPhone.

You can also tap the speaker phone button and keep the phone away from your ear.
