Microsoft is bringing artificial intelligence to its flagship software, making work easier for users.
With the addition of AI to Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, the software could offer suggestions on replies to emails, chart creation in Excel, and turn Word documents into PowerPoint presentations in no time.
The company has also developed a concept called Business Chat – an agent that will follow along with your work day and try to understand the data you have stored in Microsoft 365.
It knows what emails are coming in throughout the day, what documents you’ve been working on or presentations you might be creating, who you’re meeting with, and any chats through Teams.
You can even ask Business Chat to generate reports summarizing all the documents related to a particular project, saving you time.
Microsoft’s announcement follows a month after rival Google announced it was also bringing AI to its productivity tools, including Gmail, Sheets, and Docs.
OpenAI, the company behind Microsoft’s AI technology and the creator of ChatGPT, unveiled its next-generation model GPT-4, this week. The update has stunned many users in early tests with its ability to draft lawsuits, pass standardized exams, and build a working website from a hand-drawn sketch.
In light of these advances in artificial intelligence technology, there are still challenging questions about how these AI tools can upend professions or even enable students to cheat on tests.
Microsoft is aware that its new features are works in progress and warn users not to rely solely on the AI’s suggestions and to double-check anything it suggests.
Still, Microsoft believes this technology will help improve people’s experience at work in a significant way by allowing them to do tasks easier and with less tedium, freeing them up to be more analytical and creative.
Businesses should take advantage of these new features for an even more efficient workflow.
Only time will tell how these advances continue and how AI will fit into our day-to-day lives from now on.
For now, it seems that artificial intelligence is here to stay in the workplace, making work easier than ever before.
Artificial intelligence is quickly becoming an invaluable asset in the workplace as it allows us to do mundane tasks faster and more efficiently.
As technology continues to advance, we are sure to see even more exciting features that make work even easier than before.
Artificial intelligence has already proven itself useful enough that you should seriously consider taking advantage of all these new capabilities.
It’s clear that AI will be a major player in the workplace for years to come.
