I’ll also share some software options that are great for making calls. So get ready to save money by ditching your phone plan!

What do I Need?

You only need a laptop, a microphone, a software platform, and an internet connection.

If you have a headset or earbuds with a microphone, those will work great. Otherwise, you can use the speaker & microphone built into your computer. Only you won’t have as much privacy.

Google Voice Option

The first option we’ll look at is using Google Voice. Google Voice gives you a phone number that you can use for calls, texts, and voicemails. You can use this number to make domestic and international calls from your web browser and mobile devices.

Google Voice is free to sign and claim your Google Voice number.

Calls made to numbers in the United States and Canada are free. Calls made to anywhere else will cost money. You can’t make emergency calls with Google Voice.
