How to Search for Objects in Photos on iPhone

By iPad Pete 17 Comments

You know the frustration of looking for a specific photo on your iPhone and being unable to find it.

Now, thanks to iOS 14, you can not only search for a photo – you can search for specific objects in it, too!

Want to find a picture of your dog? Or a national monument? Or something else entirely? Now you can do so in just a few quick taps of your finger!

Here’s how you can get started searching for specific objects in photos on your iPhone.

1. Open the “Photos” app on your iPhone.

2. Tap the magnifying glass in the lower right portion of the screen to open the “Search” function.

3. Tap into the search bar and use the keyboard to type whatever it is that you’re looking for, like “beach.”

4. Scroll through the list until you find the photo you were looking for.

It doesn’t get much more straightforward than that! In addition to objects, you can also use the same technique to search for photos with specific people, or any other qualities that you’d like!

All of your searches will be saved in the “Photos” app for you to refer back to at a later time, too!

I would love to use this feature and have iOS 14 but…I do not have a bar across the bottom of my screen. There is no magnifying glass to select. Help is needed.

I have the bar across the bottom, but the magnifying glass isn’t included. It is on my iPad, but not on my iPhone XS.
