How to Find Photos & Videos Shared in Messaging Apps

By iPad Pete Leave a Comment

Whether you’re trying to remember that hilarious meme you sent to your friends last week or you want to find that photo of your new puppy that you sent to your family, there are a few different ways you can browse and search for photos and videos you’ve sent or received in messaging apps.

Here’s a quick rundown of how to do it in some of the most popular messaging apps out there.

How to Browse Photos and Videos Shared with a Contact or Group in Messages

1 Open the Messages app on your iPhone.

2 Tap on the conversation you want to look through.

3 Tap on the contact/group name or profile photo.

4 Then Scroll down to the Photos section

5 Tap “See All” to see your shared photos and videos.

You will now see all of the photos and videos shared in that specific conversation. If you want to save any of them, tap and hold on the image, then tap Save Image.

How to Search for Specific Photos and Videos in Messages App

To search for a specific photo or video you sent or received…

1 Open the Message App on your iPhone.

2 In the Search Bar, enter what you are looking for.

3 Scroll down to the “Photos” section.

4 Tap “See All”

How to Find Media in Facebook Messenger

1 Open Facebook Messenger

2 Tap on a conversation.

3 Tap on the contact/group name or profile photo.

4 In the More actions section, tap “View media, files & links”

How to Browse Photos & Videos in WhatsApp

1 Open WhatsApp.

2 Tap on a conversation

3 Tap the contact/group name.

4 Tap the three-dot menu icon.

5 Select “Media, Links, and Docs,” or for a group chat, tap “Group media”.

Rather than browsing your photos and videos, you can also search for a specific photo or video by typing a search term into the Search Bar.

Wrapping it Up

As you can see, it’s relatively easy to find photos and videos you’ve sent in messaging apps—whether it’s WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or good old-fashioned SMS messages.

So next time you can’t remember what was so funny about that meme you sent last week, don’t stress—just follow these simple steps and take a stroll down memory lane.
