Did you know that in the US alone, 700 million smartphones are lost each year? So what if, in the future, this happens to you? Are you ready for it? It’s a nightmare knowing that the person who stole your phone can access all your private data.
Luckily, your iPhone has a security feature that will automatically erase all your phone’s data. Once it detects multiple failed passcode attempts, your data is completely wiped out.
When you set up this feature, we strongly advise you to back up your iPhone using iCloud or iTunes.
Remember that once your iPhone reaches 10 failed attempts, all data inside will be erased. Before enabling this feature, consider scenarios such as kids who might play with your phone, accidental inputs when your iPhone is inside your pocket, or any other way that might trigger a passcode input. These are all the risks that you might encounter, so always backup your iPhone first.
To backup your iPhone to iCloud, go to Settings > (Your Name) > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now
Now, if you think you are ready to enable this feature, just follow the steps below.
1. Using your iPhone or iPad, search “Settings” and tap the icon.

2. Once you’re inside the iPhone Settings, scroll down and look for “Face ID & Passcode”.
If you have an older iPhone model that doesn’t have Face ID, look for “Touch ID & Passcode”

3. Once you tap this option, you will be prompted to enter your passcode.

4. Now, scroll down until the very bottom of your screen. You will see the “Erase Data” toggle.

5. Once you tapped the Erase Data toggle, simply tap “Enable” when prompted.

6. You will now see that the Erase Data toggle is active.

Well, that’s it! This will add another layer of security for your iPhone, which will give you peace of mind when unexpected times happen. This security feature is built-in, and you can always turn it on when needed.

Is there a way to make that 4 o5 missed tries? 10 seems too many. This is a repost because my name was incorrect on last one.
Good tip. How do I look up old tips? I’m looking for the cookies tip you posted awhile back. Thanks
