If you’re sick of spam calls, here’s a handy feature on your iPhone that can help screen them out.
With the “Silence Unknown Callers” feature, your phone will send any call from a number that isn’t in your contacts straight to voicemail.
That way, you don’t have to worry about dealing with unwanted calls — and you can avoid accidentally picking up a call from a telemarketer.
When you turn on Silence Unknown Callers, your iPhone won’t make a sound or vibrate when you receive a call from an unknown number.
The call will go straight to voicemail, and you’ll see the number appear in your Recent Calls list.
Here’s how to set up the “Silence Unknown Callers” feature on your iPhone:
Step 1: Open your Settings app

Step 2: Scroll down to tap on “Phone”.

Step 3: Scroll down and tap on “Silence Unknown Callers”.

Step 4: Switch on “Silence Unknown Callers.”

That’s it! Your iPhone will still ring for the phone numbers you have saved in your Contacts list. You’ll also hear rings from people you’ve called or texted before.
Phone numbers you’ve recently received in an email or text message will also usually ring.
If you call an emergency number like 911, the “Silence Unknown Callers” feature will turn itself off for 24 hours as a precaution.
So, now you know how to set up the “Silence Unknown Callers” feature on your iPhone, which will help screen out spam calls.
This feature is available on all carriers and will send any call from a number that isn’t in your contacts straight to voicemail.
Enjoy your newfound peace and quiet!

My son-in-law was just telling me about this feature yesterday while we were waiting for the Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier to enter the channel at South Padre Island(where we live!) on its way to the scrapyard. I said I would check into it and lo and behold, it popped up in your letter. At 78 years old, I can use all the tips available. I appreciate your site so much, Pete! Silence Unknown Callers is not always useful. I get many legitimate calls from numbers that are not in my contact list, ie; 2nd line calls from business contacts, Dr. Ofc. appt. confirmations, and others that I wish to hear from.
What is the best call screening or spam blocker app for me??
Enjoy your tips. Just silenced my spammers and telemarketers
