Wanna have some fun with your loved one’s iPhone?
If you have access to someone’s iPhone and know their passcode…
Take a screenshot of their home screen. For older iPhones press the home and side lock-screen button at the same time. For newer iPhones, press the side button and volume-up button at the same time.
Next… move all the apps off their main screen to another screen. Just tap-and-hold until the apps jiggle, then tap-and-drag them off to the next screen. (Be nice and drag them in order so it will be easy to put them back in the same order later.)
The final step is to set the home screen screenshot as their wallpaper. Go to Settings > Wallpaper > Choose a New Wallpaper > All Photos > Tap the Screenshot you took
Turn off “Perspective Zoom”. And pinch in if needed to “Move & Scale” the screenshot to fit the iPhone screen. Finally tap “Set” and “Set Home Screen”.
Now when they try to use their phone, they’ll be tapping on the screenshot icons and nothing will happen.
Hopefully you’re around to let them off the hook with a good laugh and an “April Fools!”
You may want to tease them a little by pointing out that their clock looks like it stopped. “But, look at the calendar date… that’s correct. What date does it say?”
To undo the prank, just swipe left to get to the screen with the apps you moved. Tap Settings > Wallpaper to change their Wallpaper back. And tap-and-drag the icons back to their first home screen.

When my son was a teenager he got into my iPhone and set a couple of shortcuts so that when I typed “love” it said “platypus” and when I typed “no” it said “Definitely!” If I didn’t check my texts before sending I might say “I platypus you” or when I meant to tell someone “no” I would enthusiastically agree with “Definitely!” I had no idea you could do something like that and I thought those developers at Apple were having fun. At the next Christmas gathering, I was telling my sister what my phone kept doing and my son heard it and about died laughing. He said he had forgotten that he did that!
Good one! That might be next year’s April Fool Prank. A little meaner than this years 🙂
Oh that’s wicked!
My wife does not have a sense of humor. The doctor says I can go home once the wounds heal.
April fool!
I’m still waiting for my Wife to pick up her iPhone. She hasn’t touched it all day.
Maybe I’ll see you in the ER Pete 🙂
