Easiest Way to Share Your Lists From Reminders App

By iPad Pete 2 Comments

The Reminder app on your iPhone is a great way to keep yourself on track but did you know you can share your reminders? The feeling of satisfaction you have when checking things off your to-do list is now easier to get.

Planning an event with a million tasks? Share it. Have a list of things you want for your birthday? Definitely share it. My favorite way to use it on an everyday basis is for a shared grocery list. If only someone (me) would remember to put sugar on the list.

If you don’t see the option to share, then you need to check your iCloud settings and turn Reminders on. Go to Settings > iCloud and toggle the Reminders switch to the “on” position. You may need to restart your iPhone for the share option to appear.

You can share your reminders a few different ways, iMessage probably being used the most. But you also have the option to copy the invitation link and share it however you would like. If you have third-party apps like Facebook, they will be available for you to use as well.

The sharing feature is only available for devices from iOS 13 and above, or iPadOS. There are some small differences with this feature depending on if you are using iOS 13 or iOS 14 and we have noted the changes in the steps below. Nothing too drastic. Let’s jump into this.

Step 1. Open Reminders App

Step 2. Select the list you want to share.

Step 3. Tap the Menu Icon (three dots) on the upper right-hand corner.

Step 4. Select “Share List”.
Note: On iOS 13, select “Add People” from the bottom of the screen.

Step 5. Tap “Add Person”. This will open your Contacts List where you can select the contact. You can add multiple contacts.

Step 6. Select the contact information for the person you would like to share with, then tap “Add” on the upper-right corner. This will send an invitation to your contact. Tap “Done” after adding all the contacts you need.

Step 7. To view the Shared list, open the Menu Icon again (Step 3), and tap on “Manage Shared List“.
Each contact name will show the status of the invitation.
(Example: “Pending” if they still haven’t accepted yet).
If the invitation is successfully sent, your Share List will now say “Your list is now shared” or “Shared with Unknown”.

You can check back on invited contacts after sharing to find out if they accepted your invitation. Just go to the edit menu again (the three dots in the corner). You can also “View Participants” or edit the people that are sharing your list from the same menu.

There are so many ways you can use Reminders sharing that it
might become your new favorite feature. Happy sharing!

Could you share more on the basics of the app and how to get started making it harder for me.
