One of the great things about having an iPhone is just how easy it is to customize.
You can change virtually anything you want – from the wallpaper to the layout of your “Home” screen to the recently introduced widgets and more.
Apple includes a wide range of different ringtones that you can choose from. But you may not realize how easy it is to create your own ringtones.
Creating Ringtones for Your iPhone: An Overview
Zedge
One of the easiest ways to create free ringtones on your iPhone is to use a dedicated app like Zedge.
1. Once you load the Zedge app on your iPhone, head to the “Top Ringtones” section and explore until you find something you like. You can choose from acoustic and quirky songs, world music ringtones, hit songs and much, much more.

Initially, you will have 10 Zedge Credits for free. You may either purchase more credits, or watch short ads to earn free Zedge Credits.
2. After you locate a clip that you want to use as a ringtone, just tap the “Use Credits” and then the “Download” button to download it to your device.

3. Your Ringtone will now be stored in your Files Folder.

Once you have found and downloaded a ringtone, you can create a loop file and set it as an iPhone ringtone with these steps:
Create a Loop File for Ringtone Using GarageBand App
- Download and open the free app GarageBand. This is an Apple-developed app, so you can pull in tracks from Apple Music (if you have an account).
2. Tap the Loop icon, then tap “Files”.

If the Ringtone you’ve downloaded from the Zedge app is not shown, you can tap “Browse items from the Files app” to locate the Zedge Folder. By default, Zedge Folder is saved under “On My iPhone” in the the Files App.
3. Touch and hold the ringtone file and drag it to the Track row as shown below.

4. Once you have a file on the tracks, tap the Play Button, then the Record Button. The song will play on a loop while recording, and you can tap on the Stop button anytime.

It should record while your song is playing. If it is recording but your song is not playing, tap on the Stop button and then Rewind button.
Start again by tapping on your song on the track row, just beside the microphone icon (music will start playing), then tap on the Record button.
5. After recording, tap on the arrow down icon on the upper left part, and tap on “My Songs”.

6. Tap and hold down the file icon to open the Actions Menu. Tap on “Rename” and change to any name you like. In this example, “New Ringtone” is used.

7. Then repeat Tap and Hold down step and select “Share”.

8. Choose a format. Tap “Ringtone”.

9. You may see a pop-up message about adjusting your ringtone length. It only needs to be 30 seconds or less. Tap Continue to shorten your ringtone length.

10. Export Ringtone. You can rename your ringtone here again. This will be the name that will appear on your Ringtone List under Settings.

10. Then select “Use Sound As…”

11. You will be given options what you want to use this new ringtone for. Tap on “Standard Ringtone” then tap Done.

Now you have set your new tune as your Ringtone for calls.
To change your Ringtone:
1. Go to Settings, then tap Sounds and Haptics.
2. Under Sounds and Vibration Patterns, tap on Ringtone.

3. Here you can change your ringtone back or choose a different sound from the list.
To Delete the new Ringtone from your list:
1. Go to Settings, then tap Sounds and Haptics.
2. Under Sounds and Vibration Patterns, tap on Ringtone.
3. Find the ringtone you want to delete and swipe left on that line. Then tap on “Delete”. Note: you can only delete ringtones you add in. Built-in ringtones within your iPhone cannot be deleted.
