Apple Wallet’s Newest Addition

By iPad Pete 7 Comments

You carry a lot of things with you whenever you leave the house, keys, a water bottle, mask. But one thing you might not need is a wallet because when you bring your iPhone, your wallet is included.

Your iPhone has been carrying your credit cards, now your driver’s licenses (in some states), and soon you can carry your vaccination card too.

With COVID showing no signs of retreating, especially on a global scale, proof of vaccination will be necessary to enter concert centers, restaurants, movie theaters, and other entertainment venues.

iOS 15 already allows you to add your vaccination card to the Health app and an upcoming update will allow you to add the card to your Wallet as well.

As always with Apple, privacy and security are the top priority. When the card is used from your Wallet, full details will not be available until you unlock your iPhone. Third-party apps will be under strict restrictions and required encryption to share the data on a one-time-only basis and the app’s privacy policy will need to include an option for the user to delete the information.

More than just a pass into the concert, vaccine cards are already required to start new jobs and begin new schools, and having that information stored handily in your iPhone means you are less likely to lose this newly important document.

Yet again Apple has found another way to integrate seamlessly into our lives and make them just a little easier.

Regina – Go to your Apps Icon and search for that app or if you can page back to the left on your main screen and at the top is a search Bar. Search Apple Wallet.
