Downloading and using apps on your iPhone is so simple and easy, but you may not know what goes on behind the clouds.
Some apps may build digital profiles about you including your age, location information, browsing history, spending habits, and more.
Sometimes this can be a good thing, and sometimes you may not want your data tracked and potentially shared.
Apple is now empowering its users by giving them a choice of how their information will be handled, through one simple question: Allow app to track you, or not?
Me personally, I’m allowing Facebook to track me. Because, I’d rather see targeted ads about my unique niche interests (Blindfolded Scrimshaw Contests and 1920s Lithuanian Operas) when scrolling through my Facebook feed, rather than generic ads for Car Insurance, Weight Watchers, and McDonald’s.
Apple has created a new video to explain App Tracking Transparency…

Wow! That’s powerful, you regain control of your information rather than free-fall and dissemination of your life. Thank you
So how do I know if my apps are tracking me? Mine not been asked this question yet.
You should see it if you’ve updated to iOS14 and log into Facebook on your iPhone.
How do I update my iPhone X do iOS 14?
I’ve seen it a few times and it really doesn’t seem like such an earth changing thing – as it says if you choose (yes, your choice) to not allow you’ll still see ads in the same number but just not personalized to you. So nothing will change about seeing so many ads. But I guess if they’re not personalized to you then that means the “source” of ads didn’t get your information from somewhere to target you. So, I guess that’s a good thing. You’ll just be a random target.
I agree Ann. But, one thing to clarify is that the advertisers do not get your personal information when you see their ads. That data is retained by the platform like Facebook or Google. This is always true regardless of which option you choose.
