Apple is a trusted brand worldwide best known for delivering quality consumer products people use and your iPhone is one of them. Conceptualization to development all the way to manufacturing and delivery are all meticulously planned. All these are done to ensure that you only get quality phones all while delivering breakthrough technology you will enjoy.
But at the end of the day, your iPhone is still a gadget that will only last a set number of years regardless of how well you take care of it. There are also instances where accidents happen which could further shorten the life of your iPhone.
In all these, there are actually warning signs you need to pick up letting you know that your iPhone is about to have some serious issues. It pays to pay attention so you can manage your expectations. Here are five (5) things to look out for.
Bulging phone
This is where the back part of your phone is bulging out. It might seem like a little inconvenience where the most logical thing is to squeeze and push the bulging part back in. But you must know that this is usually caused by your battery bulging out. If you try and push it back in, one of two things can happen – you could damage your iPhone’s display or even put a hole in your battery.
When your battery swells up, it is dangerous and you should not try to even charge it. You need to bring it in for service to check if your battery can be replaced or if you already need a new unit. Do not try to wait it out as well and hope that the bulging battery would eventually go back to normal because it won’t.
Flickering screen
If you start to notice that your display seems to flicker a lot, this is also a warning sign that your iPhone is nearing its end. The most common reason is that your screen is defective or damaged. Maybe you tried to squeeze the bulging battery back in? Did you drop your unit and it landed screen first? There are a lot of possible reasons for this but one thing is certain – your iPhone’s display is starting to give out.
Your iPhone is not charging
Ok, this might not be as serious as the first two but it is an issue worth looking into nonetheless because it can also mean your iPhone will soon die on you. But before you get stressed out, there are a few troubleshooting techniques you can do to help you charge your unit.
Look for other cables or chargers for your iPhone – there are times when all you need is a different cable to charge your unit.
Reboot – try turning your iPhone off and on again. Sometimes, you just need to reboot or restart your unit.
Try wireless charging – if you have a wireless charger and your unit supports it, try that first. If it does charge, then you know that it might just be the cable or charger.
Dirty charging port – there are times when your charging port is just dirty or there is something blocking the cable from going all the way in. Try cleaning it first.
iPhone restarts for no reason
These random restarts could be a big warning sign that you need a new iPhone. It could be anything from a severely damaged battery to loose connections inside your unit. There are times that the problem could already be your mainboard. It is also possible that you simply do not have enough memory on your iPhone and simply need to uninstall some apps. The best thing to do is bring it for a service.
You experience ghost touches
More often than not, this is one of those problems that will only get worse over time. You might think that your screen is just dirty but this can be caused by something much worse. Ghost touches could be the result of internal iPhone failure which means you might need a new unit soon.
These are just some of the warning signs that you have to keep a close eye out for to know if you need a new iPhone unit soon.

What exactly is a “ghost touch”?
I found the answer inn Google, go look it up for the answer.
Thank you, Charly, for saving us all the effort of stopping what we are doing and going to Google. You are remarkable.
And for those of us who really want to know (copied and pasted from Google)…
As the name implies, ghost touch is when your iPhone starts performing actions by itself. This is when your phone seems to react or respond to non-existing touches. For example, apps on your iPhone would just open or close without you doing anything.
Thank you for being helpful
These are good tips to know about the iPhone; however, my iPhone just started going blank on the messages page. All of my texts disappear several times during the day. I have to turn the phone off for three to four minutes and turn it back on again for the texts to reappear. This shouldn’t happen and it’s getting on my nerves.
Thanks for the input. It is always very helpful! I am not very good with knowing things about the cell phone and all your lessons are very appreciated!
How do you clean a dirty port on an iPhone or iPad? My iPad got covered with sand at the beach & the plug doesn’t connect properly & doesn’t always charge
At this point I would take mine in to be serviced.
