3 Google Maps Features That Can Make Your Holiday Travel Easier This Year

By iPad Pete Leave a Comment

Holiday travel can be fun and exciting, but it can also be overwhelming and stressful.

Fortunately, with Google Maps, travelers have access to a very useful navigational tool that makes holiday travel easier than ever before.

Here are three Google Maps features that can help you during your holiday travels…

1) Finding Stores in Airports, Malls, and Transit Stations

Google Maps makes it easy to find nearby stores in airports, malls, and transit stations. You can search for specific types of stores in a particular area or compare prices and features of different airport stores.

When the location has the data, you can see what stores are in the building. You can also find airport lounges, ATMs, bathrooms, car rentals, and parking lots. You will be able to find out if the store is open, how it is rated, and what floor it is on.

You can access this information by opening a location in Google Maps and selecting the “Directory” tab.

2) Crowd Monitoring

Another great feature of Google Maps is its ability to monitor crowd density before you visit an area or venue.

Zoom in to a location on the map. When you do, you will see highlighted patches that show how busy the area is. It will tell you if the location is “Not busy,” “Busier than usual,” or “As busy as it gets.”

If you tap on the “Busy” area, you will see a chart that shows how busy the area is at different times of the day. You will also see a list of restaurants, shops, and other places to go within this area.

3) Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Locator

For electric vehicle drivers, using Google Maps to locate EV charging stations along routes provides convenience and efficiency when planning a trip or outing. Here’s how…

1) Open Google Maps.

2) From the tabs at the top of the map, select “More.”

3) Scroll down to the “Services” section.

4) Select “Electric Vehicle Charging” from your options.

5) Now, you’ll see the nearby charging stations. Tap on a charging station if you’d like to add it as a destination for your trip.

Google Maps is a powerful tool to make your holiday travel easier and more efficient.

With Google Maps, finding stores, avoiding crowds, and locating EV charging stations have never been simpler! Happy travels!
